Here is a heatmap of a usual conversation table in a bar. The situation is like:
First scenario:
- A is a good storyteller or a guy who tells interesting things.
- B, C, D and E are the guys who are fascinated with A's stories.
- F is a boring guy who thinks his gibberish is interesting. Most of the time he chooses an isolated victim to unload.
- G, too far away from the apex of the conversation and also blocked by B, who fecklessly turns his back, has no other choice but withstand the brutal boredom attack of F. His only hope is to seize a place of a poor soul when he is out to bathroom.
- H pretends as if he is following the conversation with some nods or gestures. Meanwhile he stares at a girl next table.
Second scenario:
- A is the prettiest or the only available girl on the table.
- B, D and E are trying to attract A.
- C is also trying to attract A, at the same time giving D a hard time with his over-intimate gestures (look at the arm).
- F and G are a couple. They are far away from the heart of the conversation. It is a good time for F to talk about everyday stuff with her boyfirend as any other time.
- Again, G's only hope is to seize a place of a poor soul when he is out to bathroom.
- H is just drunk enough to have no idea what people are talking. He just looks at people as a koi fish.

or...
A is a person who THINKS he is very interesting and doesn't stop talking, he thinks his personality enchants others.
B, H, E, are people tired of listening to A, but A is the host, so they don't interrupt him. Besides, they will leave in an hour and they'll be free.
C, D are a couple and think the same about A than B, H, and E, but they are amused because when they leave an hour from now they'll engage in a conversation laughing and telling each other what they think about A's presumptuousness and about B, H, and E patient faces.
F and G, as described above. I give you that.
