What kind of Drupaller are you?

September 9, 2009

I created this little widget after reading a long discussion on merlinofchaos's blog: www.angrydonuts.com/an-observation-about-designers-versus-developers

As you may know, he is one of the greatest contributors to Drupal (Views, Panels... need to mention more?). Apparently he has had some difficulties with designers in time. I am also observing these kinds of friction between the two parties, not restricted to web design but also in other areas.

He states his reasons as a developer and coder and in the end, he writes that a developer can create "something" without the help of a designer, but the opposite is not true.

So, I created this visual tool for people who wants to express where he/she thinks to be standing. Feel free to play with it, but don't break it :)

Moral of the story: I believe developers and designers are doing great jobs individually. But in this state of the Internet, we cannot afford something "mediocre". So we need what? I think the role of the people which is in between these two parties, will increase in time. Just place the slider in the middle and increase its size a bit :)

But of course open-source community's "sources" are not so abundant to utilize that many kinds of contributors in a single project.

Merci.
