Last weekend, I was invited to Anadolu University to give a seminar on Drupal. The seminar took place on November 21st and 22nd.
I must say, Anadolu University has one of the most beautiful campuses among the universities I have seen before. And the students seem to know the value of such a great education place.
The seminar was organized by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in cooperation with Science and Technology student groups. The organization was flawless and the participants were highly involved, in spite of the school was just announced to be closed on whole coming week on short notice.
I tried to focus on introducing Drupal as a CMS and wanted to show what can be done with Drupal, instead of giving a detailed technical information. After all, 2 days is a very short time to get a good grasp of Drupal, but it is enough to learn if it is worth learning. I just stated the facts and let them decide if it is the tool they want to use to develop websites. The feedback was positive.
Here is the presentation I used on the seminar: Drupal_sunum.pdf. (in Turkish). In order to download, right-click on the link and select "Save link as" or "Save target as".
I will also post the pictures here, if they ever send me :)
Funniest talk I have heard for years...
This guy talks about how people get instantly used to any improvement, and then they complain if they don't get 100%... Generally he talks about American society though...
Every society has its own problems... Here in Turkey, people are the opposite. Nobody complains about anything. Except if you ask them, they start to complain about everything. But when they eat the worst meal in a restaurant with the worst service, they are too embarrased to complain. And if somebody complains, the staff doesn't give a damn about it.
With this account, Twitter finally makes sense for me: http://twitter.com/shitmydadsays
Just brilliant...
Here is a heatmap of a usual conversation table in a bar. The situation is like:
First scenario:
- A is a good storyteller or a guy who tells interesting things.
- B, C, D and E are the guys who are fascinated with A's stories.
- F is a boring guy who thinks his gibberish is interesting. Most of the time he chooses an isolated victim to unload.
- G, too far away from the apex of the conversation and also blocked by B, who fecklessly turns his back, has no other choice but withstand the brutal boredom attack of F. His only hope is to seize a place of a poor soul when he is out to bathroom.
- H pretends as if he is following the conversation with some nods or gestures. Meanwhile he stares at a girl next table.
Second scenario:
- A is the prettiest or the only available girl on the table.
- B, D and E are trying to attract A.
- C is also trying to attract A, at the same time giving D a hard time with his over-intimate gestures (look at the arm).
- F and G are a couple. They are far away from the heart of the conversation. It is a good time for F to talk about everyday stuff with her boyfirend as any other time.
- Again, G's only hope is to seize a place of a poor soul when he is out to bathroom.
- H is just drunk enough to have no idea what people are talking. He just looks at people as a koi fish.
What is better than pixel art? Answer: 3D pixel art.
What is better than 3D pixel art? Answer: This red pixel cabriolet!
www.minddesk.com is the home of this cabriolet and many other 3D pixel models. All of the models are created with the new 3D design software "Qubicle".
I am thinking of a music video created by this program. Wondering who will make it first...

A "Fake Luigi" is caught in a Wii Launch event on a store in Japan!! A person dressed as Luigi mascot fooled the store officials long enough to hand out a few consoles. But some witty Nintendo guy noticed he was a "fake Luigi" and caught him. You are embarrasing your brother Luigi...

And this picture is the last happy moments of the "Fake Luigi" before getting caught. Look how he is smiling with joy -->
